How to read the Bible effectively!



Here are Ten Strategies to First-Rate Reading of the Bible.

1. Read Thoughtfully - This involves Study
2. Read Repeatedly - First of all we should read entire chapters or books in one sitting. Secondly, make sure that you start at the beginning. Thirdly, the Bible has been recorded on tape or CD (Hearing the bible read out loud is a great way to study). Fourthly read the bible to yourself out loud; this will help you pay attention. Fifthly, set up a schedule for Bible reading.
3. Read Patiently - Don't run long distance at full speed.
4. Read Selectively - Use the right kind of bait. Ask who, what where, when, why and wherefore.
5. Read Prayerfully - Pray before, during and after your devotions. Ask for wisdom and understanding concerning a passage. Turn scripture into prayer - Nehemiah 4:4-11.
6. Read Imaginatively - Read the Bible in a way that makes the stories come to life.
7. Read Meditatively - Biblical meditation means filling your mind with the truth that God has revealed. Psalms 1:1,2
8. Read Purposefully - This is where your skills thinking and discerning come in. Here you find out what the aim of the author is.
9. Read Acquisitively - Read with the though of getting something out of it.

10. Read Telescopically - After you start to look at the passage in its entirety you begin to dissect the pieces then be able to put all the pieces back together.
